About The Role
Portsmouth Football Club is looking for experienced Casual First Team Video Scouts to provide flexible support to our Recruitment Department.

Contract: Casual – Assignment Based
Rate: £12.21 per hour
Assignments: Up to 20 video scouting assignments per month, with each assignment expected to take approximately 4.5 hours.
Working remotely, you will undertake video scouting assignments across various football markets, assessing players against the Club’s positional profiles and recruitment criteria. The primary focus will be First Team recruitment, with some assignments covering emerging and developing talent.
The role will include:
- Conducting detailed video-based technical and tactical player assessments.
- Identifying and evaluating potential recruitment targets across different football markets.
- Assessing players against defined positional and recruitment profiles.
- Producing clear, concise and evidence-based scouting reports.
- Considering league quality, playing style and tactical environment when assessing player suitability.
- Maintaining accurate scouting records and completing assignments within agreed deadlines.
- Discussing and challenging player assessments with members of the Recruitment Department where required.
About The Candidate
About you
We are looking for individuals with:
- Proven experience in player identification and video-based scouting within football.
- Strong knowledge of multiple domestic and international football markets.
- A good understanding of the EFL Championship and the demands of the English game.
- Strong technical and tactical understanding, including positional profiling.
- Experience using professional scouting and analysis platforms, including Wyscout, StatsBomb and SkillCorner.
- Excellent written reporting, analytical and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and reliably in a remote environment.
- A professional approach with high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
- Have a right to work in UK
Relevant Talent ID, coaching, scouting, performance analysis or sport-related qualifications would be advantageous.
Working arrangements
This is a casual, assignment-based role, with up to 20 assignments available per calendar month depending on the Club’s recruitment requirements. There is no guaranteed minimum number of assignments.
Each assignment is expected to take approximately 4.5 hours and will be paid at £12.21 per hour, subject to completion to the required standard and within the agreed deadline.
Approved expenses will be reimbursed in line with Club policy.
